Colorado Public Utilities Commission’s Office of Rail Safety Provides Details on Overnight Derailment
Dec. 3, 2025 - The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC)’s Office of Rail Safety, together with several state agencies, shares the following update on the overnight derailment of a Union Pacific train outside of Grand Junction.
FACT SHEET - Comanche Power Plant Unit 2 Retirement Extension PUC Proceeding No. 25V-0480E
Dec. 3, 2025 UPDATE: The Commission approved the variance to extend the retirement date for Comanche 2 to the end of 2026. Additionally, the Commission found that the outage at Comanche 3 was the sole justification for the extension of Comanche 2; ordered substantial monthly reporting and operational limitations consistent with the proposal from Western Resource Advocates, the Conservation Coalition, and the Environmental Justice Coalition.
Xcel Energy’s Electric Rate Increase Proposal, Proceeding No. 25AL-0494E
Nov. 25, 2025 - The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) opened Proceeding No. 25AL-0494E for Xcel Energy’s electric rate increase proposal, which was filed with the Commission on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025. The process will begin in December and more information will be available once a schedule has been set.
